So as many of you know I had been planning something I called the Muscle Truck Road Trip. I wanted to drive cross country in my old 454 powered C10. That isn't happening, I didn't trust the vehicle and didn't end up putting the time into it to make it roadtrip-worthy. Instead I'm just taking my FoST. I left this morning from Austin and made it to the small town of Spur, Tx. I'm planning on doing daily (or close to daily) updates from the road, and hopefully most of them will be better than this. Here is my driving companion, her name is Scout. I also plan on doing a go pro time lapse of each day. Today's is at the top, there are some gaps since I'm still figuring out the gopro, hopefully I can avoid that in the future. (Video is working, but doesn't seem to want to embed properly yet.)

Are you going east or west

West to Phoenix, Grand Canyon, LA, then up the PCH to Seattle, then all the way to the east coast, down the east coast and back to Austin

Denver probably isn't making the cut, due to time concerns getting from Seattle to Detroit in time for Christmas.

Also, I love the idea of the daily time lapse! Just finished watching it. It was lovely. I liked watching the one part where the lower level clouds are moving at a different pace and direction compared to the ones in the upper atmosphere. Also, it kinda warms my heart that there were some sunny skies somewhere in Texas today. It was overcast and dreary in my neck of the state.
How long is the trip going to take you? Are you planning on driving a minimum number of miles per day, or aiming to reach specific stops each day instead? Also, what song is that? Sorry for so many questions, but you're literally doing something I've been dreaming about for a while. I've got some family history (and family) in the PNW, so it's a trip I want to make someday, too. I'm so excited for you! Have fun! And I'll be looking for your posts. ^_^

Well it was rainy and dreary in Austin when I left. Trip should take me about 2 months total, but there will be some extended stays with family and friends, especially for the holidays. I planned out the trip and I have a basic idea of where I want to be each day, mostly determined by places I want to see/people I want to visit. I'm trying to keep it to around 300 miles of driving a day, some days will be less, some more.
The song is Something to Say by Daniela Andrade.

1) My girlfriend wants the song name
2) Adorable dog!
3) When you're in the greater NYC area let me know! I'll get you lunch or something. Unfortunately, my house is extremely ill equipped for guests, otherwise you'd be welcome. It's not messy, it's that my parents have never really been kosher about it.

are you taking I-90 over to the east coast?
I live about 90 miles south of I-90?

1) Something to Say by Daniela Andrade
2) Yes she is! And she didn't even throw up today!
3) NYC might be pretty packed already, my sister lives there along with friends from high school and college, along with my career mentor, but I'll be posting updates so maybe we can work something out once I get closer.

Um, don't have the routes memorized? Seattle to Glacier, Glacier to Yellowstone, Yellostone to the Black Hills, Black Hills to Minnesota, Minnesota to Michigan.

I'm in Northern NJ. I'm not sure what route you're taking to cut through NJ, but I live minutes off of Route 287.

okay, from how it sounds, sounds like you'll bypass me. (if you were wanting to do meet-ups with anyone anyway).

I am wanting to do meet ups, but yeah, looks like I'm going to miss you as I turn north to get to Glacier.

I think you're wise to take the FoST. You'll have an epic trip, and be much more comfortable.
